Harry Shearer Is Back!

As many of you may have heard by now, voice artist Harry Shearer quit the Simpsons back in May. He announced his departure via his Twitter account and immediately there was uproar regarding his decision.
Harry Shearer voices some of the Simpsons most popular and beloved characters including Mr. Burns and Ned Flanders. It was rumoured at the time of his departure was related to compensation for his time in the show, a claim he later refuted and instead said it was more to do with wanting more freedom to do other things, freedom he says was not possible under the shows schedule.
One of the shows producers Al Jean said at the time that there was a plan in place in order to keep the show going in the event that Harry Shearer did not come back. He says that instead of retiring a whole host of popular characters, they would simply recast and find somebody else to voice the characters.
Fast forward to today and EW is reporting that a deal has been reached between both parties and Harry Shearer will be returning for the new season. Production in the new season has already commenced and is currently seven episodes into filming. Luckily though, Harry Shearer had banked up enough time off that it covered all of the seven episodes already filmed so he in no way interfered with the production of the new series which will still air as scheduled later this year.
Season 27 of the Simpsons returns to FOX, rather appropriately, on September 27th.
